Cameron Avery - Dance With Me
Singer-songwriter (and Tame Impala bassist) Cameron Avery has shared the video for his new single, a moody superb number titled ‘Dance With Me’. The track’s taken from Avery’s debut solo album ‘Ripe Dreams Pipe Dreams’ out this Friday 10th March.
The immediate comparison is Leonard Cohen’s timeless classic ‘Dance Me To The End Of Love’, but there’s enough separation between the two (including the distinct subject matters) to make Avery’s Dance With Me unique and brilliant in it’s own right.
The clip – which features both Cameron and Alexa Chung – centres around a dance routine in the aftermath of a car crash.
Cameron explains: “There are two dreamscapes. The car wreck is kind of a metaphoric reality, where someone comes out of nowhere into your life and you’re incapable of avoiding them. The dancing scene is a dreamscape depicting the act of throwing all of yourself in their way in the hope they might open their eyes and see you. And then you play it over in your head and realise it probably couldn’t work anyway.”
